We live on Holly street near the tunnel... Saturday morning at 7am 11/27, a black man wearing a camouflage hooded sweatshirt in his mid 30s, attempted to break into our house by jumping a back fence to gain access from our gated garden. Luckily, one of us was awake and watching TV. My roommate startled him & proceeded to yell at him through a window and he ran away. 911 was called & LAPD arrive in aprox 10 min. A police report was filed. After speaking to our neighbors it seams that men with similar descriptions have posed as salesmen ringing two doorbells next door to us & another neighbor witnessed a man tampering with the electrical panels on the new condos on Holly st. In all instances a private security service was notified and did respond... but no one alerted the police.
I am writing to urge anyone to Please contact the authorities in addition to your private security services so that we can maintain a record of these crimes.
It seams from the postings on this site these men have been "working" our neighborhood for some time. Please stay safe & alert. Thanks
